World View

My world view is drawn according to my beliefs as a follower of Jesus Christ. I believe the Holy Bible to be inerrant and the inspired word of God.  I acknowledge the divinity of Jesus Christ as God, son of God the Father, a member of the holy trinity, and savior of the world.

For many these words and the perspective that is drawn must seem utterly foolish.  At a time in my life I also imagined a “safe” declaration of faith that was open and accommodating to other points of view.  I once embraced the notion that “truth was relative”.  I now conclude that relative truth does not fit with with either my scientific principals nor my convictions of faith.

Faith is God is not blind.  There are many examples of blind faith, but the Christian faith is not an intellectual leap into the dark where you check your brain at the front door. It requires that you open your heart to the complete truth.  Consider the following passages from Isaiah 45:18-22

For thus saith Jehovah that created the heavens, the God that formed the earth and made it, that established it and created it not a waste, that formed it to be inhabited: I am Jehovah; and there is none else. I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness; I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I, Jehovah, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that carry the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.  Declare ye, and bring it forth; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath showed this from ancient time? who hath declared it of old? have not I, Jehovah? and there is no God else besides me, a just God and a Saviour; there is none besides me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else.

In this passage, you see God’s rebuke of the Israelites for worshiping other gods.  Which took more “blind” faith, to worship a carved idol or to worship a God who predicts the future? What kind of faith is God mocking them for having?  As you put this passage into context for today, what idols are standing in your way?  The prestiege of your carreer, the property you own, the security you imagine in your financial holdings?  Seek the truth with your heart.  Admit your failings and seek forgiveness from the one true God and Creator of the Universe.

Stewart, I applaud you in your courageous statement of faith. In this world of politically correct soundbites, its refreshing to see someone take a stand on what they believe. Especially when that someone who also happens to be a technologist. God bless you in all your endeavors!

Hey Stuart,
I’d echo what Ronojit said, and share your world view 100%.
